Modification of Curriculum

Do you feel your child is not performing at the level you see they are capable of?
Does your child start tasks but not finish them?
Does your child feel overwhelmed by what the teacher has asked them to do?
Is set work playing to your child’s strengths (or to their weaknesses)?
Is learning a chore rather than an opportunity to improve skills and knowledge?

Planned, meaningful modification gives a student “wings to fly” and the opportunity to show what they can do!

There are three different ways in which work may be modified to set a student up to succeed:

  • Modification of curriculum – The amount of work set to match the capacity of the student so that learning remains a positive experience.
  • Modification of the complexity of the task – The level of depth in any given task is a continuum. Goal based modification in this area supports students in “learning how to learn”…… because learning is not something that comes naturally to all young people.
  • Modification of the process – Supporting the student who starts a given task but gets ‘stuck’ along the way and hence does not get the rewards of finishing!

At Wings To Fly Education Consultancy Services there is understanding that no child every wants or plans to fail….and yet many students do. Many students underachieve. Lack of success can impact on self esteem, disengagement and lead to students developing a negative image of themselves as a learner.

Services include:

  • Rewriting curriculum units (or parts within) across all subjects with inbuilt scaffolding to enhance student success.
  • Rewriting assessment/assignment tasks across all subjects (up to Year 10).

Development and/or writing of new curriculum units for schools or students enrolled in home schooling.
